Welcome to Getting Well Physiatry

Find your Ways to Healing

A message from Dr. Rivera

After years of training and clinical experience, I came to realize the void, sense of despair, and lack of direction that many patients with diabetic neuropathy experience. I have witnessed the devastating consequences in the mind, body, and souls of those affected by this condition. The good news is that after much thought, planning, studying, and God-given wisdom, I created a plan to smooth their road.

I have also taken the time to gather up-to-date information about fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome, which over the years I’ve noticed have been left overlooked in regular medical care. We can craft a plan for you based on the latest scientific evidence.

Welcome to Getting Well Physiatry! I compare your journey to an arid, hot, and painful hiking path. Trails can be steep or come in different shapes and levels of difficulty, but at the end, most take you to scenic and relaxing views. Let our Neuro Ways programs be a ray of sunshine to light up your road. Our goal is to help you find your ways towards healing.

We will dedicate time and attention to addressing any underlying and coexisting problems, provide you with the tools to understand and self-manage your condition, and promote your body’s own ability to heal itself. Diabetic Neuropathy Program

Living with diabetic neuropathy can have unpleasant and serious consequences. At Getting Well Physiatry we strive to help you find ways for comfort and healing. Based on your own journey, we will craft a plan together considering the latest scientific evidence. Ideally, you should already have a diagnosis of diabetic neuropathy (done by your primary care physician, endocrinologist, neurologist, or physiatrist).

A timely and early assessment of risk factors for serious complications, such as ulcers and amputations, is recommended for patients with diabetic neuropathy. We can help you identify your risk level so you can be proactive and work towards lowering your risk.

Comprehensive Evaluation

A thorough medical history and workup will help us identify other causes of peripheral neuropathy and aggravating factors and evaluate the risk for complications.

Personalized Report

This will include your diagnosis, recommendations, tips, and a review of the latest research and development in diabetic neuropathy that pertains to you.

Treatment Recommendations

Your initial assessment will be followed by recommendations for management with and without medication, and may include assistive devices, shoes and orthotics, and an integrative approach.

Exercise and Physical Therapy Plans

Your doctor will develop an exercise program for you and may prepare a detailed prescription for physical or occupational therapy and will be available to schedule team discussions.
